FAQ

• Are drum wraps easy to install?

  Installing drum wraps doesn’t require any advanced technical skills. As the saying goes, with the right tools you can do any job. We provide detailed instructions on our website in our top menu titled, “Install Tips”.

  To get started, you need a clean table top with a large towel or drop cloth covering it. We also recommend you use a few plastic take-out containers to hold all of the hardware that you need to remove from the shell.

  Less expensive drums have wraps that were loosely glued and those are easy to remove. Sometimes using a blow dryer to heat up the glue makes it easier to remove the drum wrap. More expensive drums with wraps that cannot be removed can just have the new wrap placed over it.

• Are drum wraps expensive?

  Our drum wraps are priced to be affordable for most drummers. A typical five (5) piece drum set would cost approximately $300 for a new set of drum wraps. Our drum wraps are priced based on their size, so a bigger drum set would cost more to wrap than a smaller drum kit.

• How long does it take to get a new set of drum wraps delivered?

  Production time is determined by the size of our queue at the time of order. Our average delivery window is 2-3 weeks.

• What else do I need to order in addition to the drum wraps?

  The most common addition to an order would be for air vents. Many drums are made with air vents that get stamped in like a two piece rivet. This are hard to remove and reuse so we always recommend buying a new set of air vents, one for each drum. Sometimes two air vents are needed for the kick drum.

  We provide a variety of air vents to match the color of the drum hardware. This includes chrome, black, brass and white.

  Our air vents have a threaded post that can be tightened from inside the drum with the matching nut. The inside of the air vent is octogon shaped allowing a half inch allen wrench that can be inserted to hold it while being tightened. We also include a gasket to prevent the air vent from digging into the drum wrap.

  For drums where the brand badge is held in place by the air vent (e.g. Slingerland), we also offer air vents with a more exterior facing flange. This way the text on the badge doesn’t get covered. An example of this can be viewed  here.

• Do I need to glue the new drum wraps onto the drum shells?

  No glue is needed to install your new drum wraps. Our drum wraps are cut 1/4 inch short in height so as not to interfere with the bearing edge of the top and bottom drum heads. We add an extra inch to the width so there is an overlap that you’ll place over the lug holes that face the drummer.
  
  We include a piece of very thin and strong double sided tape under the leading edge of the drum wrap. This will hold the wrap in place while you drill the holes for the first set of lugs. Once these lugs are attached, the drum wrap is locked in place and no glue is ever required.

• What are the drum wraps made of?

  Drum wraps from the Best Drum Wrap Company are made from one piece of clear laminate that is custom printed on the underside with the selected design. The underside also gets a protective second coating of opaque ink to protect the image. The surface of the drum wrap has a thin protective film that must be removed immediately prior to installation.

  After printing, each drum wrap is then custom cut and trimmed to the exact specifications of the order.

  We have a very detailed quality control process (QA) to assure the highest quality standards are consistently maintained throughout the entire process.

• Can any drummer purchase drum wraps from Best Drum Wrap?

  Although many of our clients are professional drummers and industry leading drum manufacturers, we also make the same quality drum wraps for non-professional drummers as well. 
  
  All drummers are equal in our eyes whether you’re touring the world, playing weddings, bars, and backyard parties or just hanging out in your basement.

• Do you make custom designed drum wraps?

  Yes, we make custom designed drum wraps. You’ll need to provide a large, high resolution image that we can use without it distorting when resized. There is an added fee if we have to do all of the resizing.

  Alternatively, some customers send us the images already resized if they have someone adept with PhotoShop. Once you select the drum wraps we’ll provide you with the exact dimensions your custom images will need to be. There is no fee if you provide all of the images already resized for production. 

• How are your drum wraps shipped?

  Domestic U.S. orders are all shipped via Fed Ex. International orders are shipped via USPS.
  
  All drum wraps are carefully rolled and packed for safe shipping and customers are sent tracking information within 24 hours of shipping.

• Is there a minimum order?

  Yes, we have a minimum order requirement of $200 (not including shipping). 

• Do you provide installation services?

  Yes, we do provide custom installation services. You will need to deliver and pickup locally to our Northern NJ location or, ship your drums to us. The customer is responsible for all shipping costs to and from. Our installation fee is $75 labor per drum.
